Things To Do With A Nintendo DS

A Nintendo DS is a small hand held console game system that was heralded from an age when I was a kid to see simple black and white games like Mario and Donkey Kong with basic watch display like graphics but now these hand held games are far becoming top games systems in their own right with cool graphics that look at good as the earlier Super Nintendos of the early 90's.

But other than playing games there are some great things you can do with a DS that help to make these hand helds more usable thqan just playing games.

Built in Camera

The built in camera is a cool feature that my Daughter uses a lot to take photos of just about everything imaginable in and around the house and the best thing is you can take photos and then draw on them and distort them and add some cool efects which for young kids really can be fun.

Built in Microphone

Creating short audio sounds is another fun addition to the Nintendo DS which also is a fun amusement when you can speed up or slow down your speech and add some other effects to your audio sound. My Son and Daughter have fun giggling, farting and burping and listening to the playback which is sort of similar to the Yadda Yadda toy.

Internet Functions - Wi-Fi

The internet is something that gets rarely used on my Daughters DS and even my Sons Nintendo Wii as with games consoles the Internet is quite basic with the browsers that they use which is often Oprah based browsers which seems slower than proper computer browsers which use Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome which usually are more stable browsers (Sometimes, not all times!)

Some games also can be used with the Internet were you have extra parts of the game which add bonus content much like other consoles too. Although not all games have some extra internet stuff, it's worth looking into though to extend your gameplay slightly.

Basic Drawing

There is a very basic drawing art tool that looks almost like a quick note quick sketch sort of thing which is a fun drawing tool which I like but my drawing is limited to a smiley face and that's it!

Whilst the kids have been at school I've played with the Nintendo DS and can confirm it's better than the hand helds we had as kids in the 80's as there is just more to do than a simple little platform game to avoid the barrels thrown by Donkey Kong or whatever it was.

Nintendo DS is a great little bundel of fun for kids and secretly us adults too.

Nice hub! I wish my old DS had a camera =P

One thing I would recommend is putting some pictures / photo capsules towards the top of your hub to draw in the eye. Also, some youtube vids demonstrating these functions wouldn't hurt!

Now I feel like I am compelled to go play my neglected DS.
